Chipolopolo goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata reflected on the team’s 1-0 win away to Chad in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match played at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium Annex 1 in Yaounde on Tuesday.
Zambia beat Chad 1-0 courtesy of a 70th minute strike by Kennedy Musonda to cement Chipolopolo’s second spot after four Group G matches.
Nsabata said it was not an easy game but the team really wanted to get the maximum points especially after playing to a barren draw at home just days earlier.
āIt was not an easy game. We really wanted the win especially after playing to a draw at home,ā Nsabata told the ZamFoot Crew.
Nsabata denied Marius Mouandilmadji from the penalty spot to assure Zambia maximum points on the road.
āThe confidence is always there as a senior player. It was my first game since I got injured in South Africa but as a senior player you always have to come to the party when you get the chance and that’s why I had that confidence that I would save the penalty,ā he said.
The ZESCO United shot stopper is however alive to the tough road ahead and says the team needs to remain focused.
āWe just have to remain focused in these two remaining games. We donāt have to dance too much because we still have a lot of work,ā he said.
āWe play Ivory Coast at home and it will be not an easy game as they will come to prove that they are the 2023/24 champions.ā
Zambia will host Cote dāIvoire next month before travelling to Monrovia for the final Group G match against the Leone Stars.
