No need for explanations these are must-win games- Fashion Sakala
Belgian based Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala says the back to back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Botswana are must-win games and the team can’t afford to give excuses.
Sakala is aware of the complications that can come with a draw or loss against Botswana. The KV Oostende forward believes starting at home gives Zambia an advantage and if they can win at home then they can win away.
“These are two important games and we are not supposed to think about the other games, We just have to win. There is no need to give explanations, These are must-win games. If we win these two games we have a chance to qualify but if we draw or lose it will be very difficult for us so I think it is a must-win, we just have to win,” he said.
” It’s an advantage for us starting from home will give is a lot of confidence and courage to work extra hard because the game is in our country, so we have to do it for the fans and I believe all they want is a good result. If we can beat them here and we have a chance to beat them away in Francis Town,” he added.
Sakala was among the foreign-based contingent that was summoned for the friendly matches Zambia played during the October FIFA window and he believes the games were very important to improve the chemistry in the team ahead of the two crucial encounters against the Zebras.
“The two friendlies were very important for me because if you see the squad there a lot of new players some of who I have never okayed with here it was very good for tactical changes and team chemistry, I now know how they play and they know how I play, we understand each other,” he said.
Sakala has called on the fans to support the team in full force to help them overcome the Botswana challenge.
In the absence of Patson Daka, the responsibility of scoring goals falls on the shoulders of players like Fashion who says the team will try by all means to find goals to win the game.
” The fans have to be in front of us and support us, this is a very important mission for the fans, We believe we are going to deliver. I believe in speaking positivity than negativity. All I want is a victory home and away, I believe that we can do it, If the fans are with us it will be easier for us,” he said.
“When you have such important games you need goals, If we don’t score, we can’t win. They have a good defense, yes but if we don’t score it will be difficult for us. We are going to try by all means to find goals that are the most important mission we have, As a striker am here to deliver, When I meet strong defenders, I have to be a strong striker too, that’s all am looking forward to,” he added.
Zambia hosts the Zebras on Thursday at National Heroes Stadium at 18:00hrs before winding down the doubleheader clash on Monday in Francistown.
