The Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Group H qualifier between Zambia and Botswana will be played behind closed doors following communication from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The association was ready to bring back fans for this crucial encounter but the Confederation threw out the request, “FAZ had engaged CAF after receiving clearance from the Ministry of Health to trigger the process of bringing fans into the stadium for the crunch Africa Cup of Nations qualifier but the request has been denied.”
The Football association of Zambia Secretary General Adrian Kashala said, “We regret to inform members of the football family that our request to have fans in the stadium has been rejected. The decision is in line with the CAF guidelines put in place arising from the Covid-19 pandemic that has ravaged the world,”
“We advise that fans abide by this directive to stay away from the stadium to avoid sanctions from CAF.” he said.
But the fans will not be left out as the match will be beamed live on the national broadcaster ZNBC, “We are happy that ZNBC will step in to show the game live which will give fans an opportunity to watch the Chipolopolo,”
Zambia will play Botswana as they seeking a win in the quest to qualify for the tournament in Cameroon, the match be played tomorrow at the National Heroes stadium kickoff of at 18hrs.
It won’t be so for all the funs because Zesco is switching off lights in the name of load shedding.
