Nkana ready to travel to Morocco

Zambia’s CAF Confederations Cup envoys Nkana have refuted media reports the “club was appealing to well wishers for funds to travel to Morocco for the 2nd Leg match against TAS De Casablanca set for February 21,2021.”

According to a media statement released by the Kitwe giants, the Zambian glamour side will be flying into North Africa next week.

“A story has appeared in the Zambia Daily Mail in which Club President Eng. Joseph Silwamba has been quoted as having said that the Club was appealing to well wishers for funds to travel to Morocco for the 2nd Leg match against TAS De Casablanca set for February 21,2021,” read the statement

“We wish to state that yesterday the Club received three journalists sent by the Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines – Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH) who are now the new owners of Mopani Copper Mines Plc having bought off shares from Glencore.

“The journalists toured the Stadium and later had some discussions with President Silwamba and acting CEO Mutale Kapwepwe in which many issues were discussed.

“It is important to note that whatever was discussed was for the attention of ZCCM-IH as the owners of Mopani which should have been treated as internal matters.

“Nevertheless, we wish to state Nkana is prepared and ready to travel to Morocco for the CAF Confederation Cup Pre-Group Stage 2nd Leg on February 21. The travelling, accommodation and all other essentials for the trip are in place and already paid for.

Nkana have already paid $45,000 for the trip to Morocco.

The Zambian Champions will host the Moroccan second tier side this weekend at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe in the first leg.

In the league, Nkana is 10th on the log with 20 points with a game in hand.
