Nkana Queens receive a shot in the arm
Wusakike Member of Parliament Pavyuma Kalobo yesterday donated a set of Jerseys to the Zambia Women Super League side Nkana Queens Football Club.
Speaking after handing over the kit, Hon. Kalobo encouraged the players to be disciplined at all times and take their careers seriously.
“To you the players, football is now a source of employment, take it seriously. What is important is to look after yourselves properly and be disciplined. A lot of people are now earning their livelihood through football. When you go far you will even look after your parents or guardians and also sponsor your siblings at school.” He said.
“I love to pick an example of Sate Sate (Ronald Kampamba), it’s unfortunate he is not here with us. He came from a (defunct) lower team called Flying Bombers but look at where he is now. I’m impressed with the report I received concerning your behavior. Keep up. Without discipline, you won’t go anywhere.” He added.
Mr. Kalobo also urged the technical staff to work in unity amidst the challenges being faced by the team.
“To management, you are the vision carriers. Do not be discouraged. I know you have come from different backgrounds. You can differ but what is important is to have a common goal and never lose focus. Never politic or be used by outsiders. You have Mopani (Copper Mines) and ZCCM that will come on board as soon as all the processes are exhausted and what they are going to structure things is what you should follow.”
And in receiving the donated items, Nkana Queens Team Manager Christopher Mwewa thanked the Member of Parliament for coming on board to support the team and said it will go a long way in motivating the girls and the entire team as a whole. He further assured the Law Maker that his technical team will ensure that the team performs well in the league.
Other donated items included, Soccer Boots, Nets, and Match Balls.
Nkana Queens currently sits bottom of the Zambia Women Super League table on three points having not recorded a single victory from the six matches they have played so far with three draws and three losses.
They face fellow strugglers ZISD of Lusaka this Sunday and will hope to salvage something from the game.
