Ng’ambo Musole jets off to Japan
Zambia Women’s National Team Goalkeeper Ngambo Musole is this afternoon expected to leave Lusaka for Tokyo to join the Copper Queens ahead of tomorrow’s opening Group F match against The Netherlands at the rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympics that will kick-off two days earlier before the official opening on 23rd July 2021 and will run up to 8th August 2021.
The ZESCO Ndola Girls goal minder was left behind from the squad that traveled last week due to unforeseen circumstances but she is now ready to team up with her colleagues in Miyagi to complete the full squad for coach Bruce Mwape’s drilled lasses.
Musole Petronella Ng’ambo who has been a consistent feature in the Copper Queens squad since her first call up in 2014 at the Under-17 FIFA World Cup in Costa Rica made her debut last year on 28th November 2020 in an International friendly match for Zambia against Chile in Copper Queens 2-1 win and she won a lot of people’s hearts because of her splendid performance and she’s now known as the ‘darling of Santiago.’
Musole went on to feature in a 3-1 loss against South Africa in another friendly match this year in April 2021 which was part of preparations for the Olympics.
Musole will be amongst the three goalkeepers to lead the Copper Queens alongside Israeli-based Hazel Natasha Nali and Indeni Roses’ Catherine Musonda.
The Copper Queens are in Group F alongside the Netherlands, China, and Brazil in this historical qualification to the tournament.
They will kick off their Olympic journey with a date against the highly-rated Netherlands Tomorrow Wednesday 21st July 2021 at 13:00hrs Zambian Time before taking on China PR 3 days later in an early kick-off at 10:00hrs with both games set for Miyagi Stadium.
The African Queens will then wrap up their group match against the much-fancied Brazil on 27th July 2021 at 13:30 at Saitama Stadium.
