Napsa stars’ continental dream in limbo after losing to Coton

Napsa Stars’ hope of advancing to the CAF Confederations Cup quarter final suffered a set back following Sunday’s 1 nil home defeat to Coton Sport of Cameroon in Lusaka.

The pensioners went into the match day 3 fixture on the background having lost to Algerian side JS Kabyilie and drew with Berkane of Morocco.

Napsa Stars coach Mohammed Fathy started with Doisy Soko and Jimmy Mukeya upfront while the likes of Emmanuel Mayuka and Chanda Mushili had to watch from the bench.

Napsa captain Dickson Chapa and Chipolopolo defender Luka Banda returned to the side after the league defeat to Power Dynamos.

Coton Sport, who were making their second visit to Heroes Stadium this year stunned the home side after Abdouraman Daman Bouba gave the lead in the 16th minute.

The home side pushed for an equalizer but to no avail.

With the defeat, Napsa are now bottom of the Group B with 1 point while Coton Sport are top with 6 points from 3 matches.

Kabyile and Berkane played out to a goalless stalemate in Morocco.

Next Napsa and Berkane will be on the road to Cameroon and Algeria to face Coton Sport and Kabyile respectively.
