Mwepu returns to Sanluqueño

Zambian forward Francisco Mwepu has returned to lower tier side Atlético Sanluqueño.

The former Kafue Celtic has been sent on loan to Sanluqueño until the end of the 2025/2026 season.

Mwepu is expected to regain full fitness after his injury and rebuild his form in order to be ready for a return to the Cádiz main squad.

Sanluqueño is a partner club of Cádiz, and they often send players there on loan.

Mwepu himself has already played for them in the 23/24 season, scoring 9 goals in 34 appearances.

In September last year, Mwepu came off the bench and scored a late equalizer in Cádiz CF’s 2-2 draw in the Spanish Segunda División, his first senior goal for Cadiz.

Prior to his move to Spain, Mwepu spent two seasons at Austrian Bundesliga side, SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz.

He was an influential member of the Zambia Under-20 side between December 2017 and December 2019 helping the team to a COSAFA U-20 title in 2019 as the team’s top goalscorer.

Mwepu who is the younger brother to medically retired Chipolopolo former captain, Enock Mwepu made his La Liga debut on matchday 36 of the 2022/2023 season against Villarreal.
