Mwepu praised by Salzburg coach after Napoli draw
Redbull Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch was full of praise for Zambia U23 national team midfielder Enock Mwepu following his sides one all draw with Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.
Marsch told reporters after the match that his side was not good with possession in the first half of the match until the introduction of the ‘Computer’ which gave them more control.
“We weren’t good in possession in the first half. Enock Mwepu then gave us a bit more control. Taking a point at the end is very important for us,” Marsch said.
The American born gaffer is still confident his side can pull through to the next round of Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
“We wanted to win here of course, but at the end of the match, neither team was in a position to seize a victory. We are still in the running for the knockout stages. A lot can still happen,” he said.
Enock Mwepu came on to replace Marin Pongracic at half time and put in a good show help Salzburg to walk away with a point from the Stadio San Paolo.
Norwegian forward Erling Braut Haaland put Salzburg in the lead just eleven minutes into the match, Converting from the penalty spot after Hee-Chan Hwang was brought down inside the area. Hirving Lorenzo scored a long-range strike to level matters in the 43rd minute.
Zambia U23 national team striker came from the bench to play the last 15 minutes replacing Haaland.
