Mwenya Chibwe excited with the possibility of working with his ‘idol’
Polokwane City goalkeeper Cyril Chibwe Mwenya says he is very excited about the possibility of working with Zambia’s most capped player, Kennedy Mweene.
Chibwe revealed that he has been a long time admirer of the 2012 AFCON winner and believes he still has a lot to learn from him.
I am more than excited to work alongside him as I have always looked up to him and I feel that there is still a lot that I can learn from him. He is a true legend.
The 35-year-old has missed out in the last few games and last played for Chipolopolo on 18th November 2018 during the 1-nil loss to Mozambique in an Africa Cup qualifier match.
However, Mweene told the ZamFoot Crew in an exclusive interview recently that he is ready to bounce back and regain his position.
“you know being a goalkeeper needs someone with maturity, you make a mistake and you are punished, you need to be talkative too,” Mweene told the ZamFoot Crew.
He continued, “Am still ready to be Chipolopolo first choice but it’s up to the people [coach] out there.”
Chibwe who is viewed by many as a long term worthy replacement for Mweene made his Chipolopolo debut on October 13th, 2019 in a friendly match away against Benin that finished 2-2 in Cotonou.
Chibwe came on in the 79th minute to replace Green Eagles goalkeeper Sebastian Mwange with Zambia leading 2-1 at that point.
