Jacob Mulenga has continued his fine goal scoring form in the China League One after scoring the only goal in Liaoning Kaixin’s 1 – 0 win over Shanghai Shenxin.
Mulenga was making his 23rd start in the 28 match old league and he was on target in the 46th minute.
This was his 14th goal of the season as he went one better than his total tally last season when he played for Shijazhuang Evergrande.
The 34 year old has now matched his best goal scoring season since he left Zambia which saw him score 14 goals when he played for Utretch in Netherlands in 2012/2013 season.
There are two more rounds of games to play before the season in China closes.
Congrats to lanky Jacob Mulenga on another goal and a very fine season in China! On a similar note today in South Africa, Collins Mbesuma notched a 2nd-straight brace for his Maccabi side. Maybe these two great veteran poachers should be called to the Chipolopolo camp as the Boys prepares for the crucial Mozambique match? They could serve as player-coaches and inspiration for the young forwards such as Patson Daka, Shonga, Mwila, and others. Let the old-timers play a positive role and pass the torch to the youngsters. Chipolopolo!
Andy,
Jacob and Collins have run their race. Let them enjoy their final paychecks without subjecting them to the scrutiny and criticism that comes with playing for Zambia. I’m a huge admirer of both of them and I think we failed to make use of their potential when they were at their peak. I only hope they’re both doing their badges (for coaching) coz they have a lot to offer to Zambian football.
As should Chris Katongo and Ba Muzo.
Great advise and so timely to our technical bench!!
Andy + paddy = wisdom x wisdom
I think the comparison is a bit off considering that Utretch is a first division team in a really competitive league whereas Liaoning Kaixin is a second division team in a league that still has some mileage to cover to convince the footballing world of how competitive the league really is.
I’m not trying to throw a wet towel on the achievement though, this is a really good achievement. a return of 14 goals in 23 games is over a return of over 60%. Even the best strikers in the game struggle to get a stat like this. Well done to Jacob.
Collins always the goal poacher. True legend of the Zambian game for sure.
Liaoning Kaixin is not a second division team in the Chinese league. It is a first division team.
Thanks for the correction but either way, the league still has a lot of hurdles to jump to prove itself as being a top league.
You are welcome!!!
These 2 guys,,,Mbesuma and Jacob are phenomeno…For sure we need them on the Technical bench of the Chipolopolo…..I personally look forward to seeing Christopher Katongo drafted in as one of the Assistant Coaches to Sven in the remaining Afcon qualifiers..
jacob and collins have better awareness in front of goal than these lazy strikers we have now. even shonga is pathetic. he cant score when the heat is turned up and lacks consistency
