The 2025/2026 MTN Super League kicked off over the weekend with low goal returns headlining the first week as four games finished goalless.
The highest scoring game of the weekend had three goals, Green Buffaloes beat Nkwazi 2-1 with goals from Bornwell Mwape and John Kosamu.
The ZamFoot Crew now looks at the players who impressed during the first week of Bola Yapa Zed.
ZAMFOOT BEST XI
GK: Lameck Siame (ZANACO) – Siame kept a clean sheet as Sensational ZANACO played to a goalless draw with FC MUZA.
Siame made a brilliant save in the last ten minutes to deny FC MUZA a goal.
LCB:Boris Tchatou ( Green Eagles)- He was solid at the back for Green Eagles as the Kawale saw off NAPSA Stars 2-0.
CB: Ocran Richard Ocran (Leopards FC)- Ocran put in a fantastic shift for Leopards FC on his debut against his former side Nkana.
RCB: Mathews Mutambo (Kansanshi Dynamos)- Mutambo was impeccable at the back for Kansanshi Dynamos who held Kabwe Warriors to a goalless draw.
He made important interceptions and clearances to keep the match scoreless and earn the Mabanga Boys a point. He was named as the player of the match.

DMF: Benjamin Saeli (Konkola Blades)- Saeli made his debut for Konkola Blades and controlled the midfield as they held ZESCO United to a goalless draw at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The former Riverplate player has received praise from Blades fans after his performance.
CM: Clement ‘Jakuzi’ Mulenga (Green Buffaloes)- Mulenga made his Green Buffaloes debut and was key for the Zambia army sponsored outfit in their 2-1 win over Nkwazi.
Especially in the second half, he stamped his authority on the match.
RCM: John Kosamu (Green Buffaloes)- The young midfielder put in a great shift for Green Buffaloes who beat Nkwazi 2-1. He scored the winner late in the second half.
LCM: Patson Kwataime (Mufulira Wanderers)- The Mufulira Wanderers fan favorite scored the equalizer and was very instrumental in the comeback win.
He was unplayable in the middle of the park especially in the second half when he was joined by George Mandu in the middle of the park.
AMF: Collins Sikombe ( Green Eagles)- The former NAPSA Stars midfielder returned to haunt his former employers.
He was a marvel to watch in the middle of the park and scored the second goal.
LF: Bornwell Mwape ( Green Buffaloes)- Mwape scored the opening goal for Green Buffaloes in the 2-1 win over Nkwazi.
He was a constant threat for the Nkwazi defense.
RF: Christopher Itaka ( Nchanga Rangers)- Itaka scored the first goal of the season. He needed just 15 seconds to put Nchanga Rangers in the lead.
He was a constant threat, and helped Nchanga Rangers to the 2-0 win over Mutondo Stars.
Notable mentions; Kunda Nkandu, Aaron Musore, George Mandu, George Chaloba, Gregory Sanjase, and Luka Ng’uni had good games for their teams.
