Moses Phiri nets brace …Assists for Triple C and Mabika

Chipolopolo Striker Moses Phiri scored a brace while midfielder Clatous Chota Chama and defender Aime Mabika assisted over the weekend as Zambian players took to the pitch across the globe. 

The ZamFoot Crew now looks at how players outside the country both on the continent and beyond. 

In Canada, Former Zambia U-20 winger Lifumpa Mwandwe put in a good 84 minute shift for HFX Wanderers in their goalless draw with York United. 

In Croatia, Midfielder Prince Mumba was an unused substitute for Istra 1961 in their 2-2 draw with Hajduk Split. 

In Czech Republic, Midfielder Benson Sakala put in a full shift for FK Viagem Příbram who recorded a 3-0 win over FK Trinec.

In England, Patson Daka put in a 74 minute shift for Leicester City in their 6-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur. Heung-Min Son came off the bench to score a 13 minute hat-trick. 

Chipolopolo skipper Enock Mwepu had an off weekend. 

England born Chanka Zimba, was a late substitute for Newport who succumbed to a 2-0 loss at home against Barrow. 

In Denmark, Winger Edward Chilufya came from the bench to play the last few minutes as FC Midtjylland beat FC Copenhagen. 

The win takes Midtjylland to 7th place with 13 points, nine adrift of log leaders Randers FC. 

In Serbia, Midfielder Klings Kangwa came from the bench to play the last 30 minutes as Red Star Belgrade recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Napredak. 

In South Africa, 

Striker Gamphani Lungu put in a full shift for Supersport United who succumbed to a 2-1 loss away to Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium. 

Left wing cum left back Rodrick Kabwe played 45 minutes of Sekhukhune United’s 1-1 draw with Stellenbosch. 

Goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata was not involved. Former Red Arrows defender Tresor Tshibwbwa was sent off in the 83rd minute for a second bookable offence. 

Mwape Musonda put in a 74 minute shift and had a day to forget as his team suffered a 4-0 loss away to Golden Arrows. 

Rally Bwalya and Kennedy Mweene were both not part of the match day squads as Mamelodi Sundowns edged AmaZulu 1-0.

In Sweden,  Emmanuel Banda came off the bench to play the last 15 minutes in Djurgadens IF 3-0 win over Goteborg. 

The result means Djurgadens stay top of the Swedish Allsvenskan with 48 points, one ahead of second placed AC Hacken. 

In Tanzania, Moses Phiri scored a brace to steer the Tanzanian champions into the pre-group stage as they beat Nyasa Bullets 2-0 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Clatous Chota Chama aka Triple C set up Moses Phiri for the first goal. 

Simba will face Premeiro de Agosto of Angola who eliminated Zambian Champions, Red Arrows. 

In the USA, Chipolopolo lanky defender Aime Mabika set up a goal for Leonardo Campana as Inter Miami came from a goal down to beat DC United 3-2. 

Campana netted a brace while former Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain scored the other for the David Beckham owned side. 

On Friday there was action for Lameck Banda, Lubambo Musonda and Lameck Banda. 

In Scotland, Fashion Sakala Jr was an unused substitute for Rangers FC who recorded a 2-1 win over Dundee United. 

Antonio Colak scored a brace to steer Rangers to victory.

  1. These players shine in the Tanzanian league but when you take them to stronger leagues fail lamentably good example is the Triple C. They’re scared of competition
