Misozi Zulu, Prisca Chilufya and Nachula return as Mwape names 26 for WAFCON Qualifier

Zambia Women’s National Team coach Bruce Mwape has named his 26-member provisional squad for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) second round back-to-back matches against Angola.

Mwape has a mix of local and foreign based players with the former entering camp on Sunday 19 November to prepare for the first leg due on 29 November 2023 before hosting Angola on 5 December 2023.

Apart from Kazakhstan-based players whose league ended last month, the other foreign-based players will join camp when the FIFA women’s international window opens on 27 November 2023.

Mwape has recalled Turkey based winger Misozi Zulu, Mexico based Prisca Chilufya and Israel based Rachel Nachula.

2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship stars Fridah Kabwe and Sarah Jere have also been roped in by coach Bruce Mwape.

The duo were revelations at the regional showpiece scoring goals and guiding the team to the final where they lost to Malawi.

Green Buffaloes goalkeeper Ng’ambo Petronella Musole has also made the cut alongside Agness Phiri and Enelesi Phiri.

Zambia will be seeking a fourth consecutive appearance at the WAFCON and build on their highest ever podium finish when they won bronze at the expense of Nigeria at the 2022 WAFCON held in Morocco.
