Mayuka in treatment room with a harmstring injury

Zambia’s French export Emmanuel Mayuka has been ruled out of action for 4-6 weeks after suffering a tear in his harmstring.

The Metz striker was not named in the Chipolopolo Boys’ squad for a friendly against Egypt as he is still regaining his match rhythm and fitness and this injury is a blow for the Chipolopolo faithful.

“Victim of a muscle injury at the end of match in Brest, last Saturday, Zambian striker spent examinations this week and the diagnosis is severe: it is suffering from a tear in the hamstring,” a statement on the French Ligue 2 side read

Though Zesco United’s Winstone Kalengo has come to the party, many Chipolopolo faithful regard the former Kabwe ace as the country’s no.1 striker.

The 2012 African Cup of Nations golden boot winner has had successful spells with Israel side Macabbi Tev Aviv as well as Swiss side Young Boys but his stint with English side Southampton was one to forget.
