Lwandamina takes a dig at fans
Zesco United Coach George Lwandamina took a dig at the fans saying he was an employee of Zesco United and not the fans. Lwandamina said he had no idea that there was the 12th player. He believes has the capability to make the decisions of taking the team forward.
The former Chipolopolo defender believes if he was fired by Zesco he would easily be hired by a team even outside the country. The fans called for the head of Lwandamina and his technical bench midway through the seasons after Zesco went through a rough patch.
“I have no words for them. Am an employ of Zesco United and I work for Zesco. Yes we need fans they are the 12th player, that’s what you call them ?, Me I never knew that we had the 12th person. All that I know is that my players are able to play. I will make decisions that will help the team go toward,” he said.
“We have respect for the fans opinions and their demands but we are not employed by them. If they fire me, Supporters fire me I will find another job in Malawi. These people don’t know what happens in the background. All they know is that the team should win today but how much have you put in to make sure that the team to win ?” he added.
Lwandamina highlighted the double standards that fans show every time they go to watch their teams.
” A Supporter he has no team reason being that when they will come to the Stadium and see that there is no Kambole they start doubting the team but when the same team wins they will again praise the team. We can never please them we just have to do our job,” he said.
His Green Eagles counterpart Alex Namazaba says they are not scared of Zesco United.
“We know that we playing Zesco are the team that has been doing well and we respect them. We are not scared because the game has to be played on the field of play and it will be eleven against eleven,” he said.
Zesco United and Green Eagles will go head to head in the final of the MTN/FAZ Super League playoff with the winner set to walk away with half a million Kwacha in prize money.
