Lwandamina: Chipolopolo ready for African Champions

Former Zambia coach George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina believes the Chipolopolo Boys has what it takes to gun down Ivory Coast.

Zambia host the African Champions next week on Friday at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in a Morocco 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Ivory Coast currently lead the group on 9 points while Zambia and Sierra Leone are on 7 and 4 points respectively.

Chad are bottom of the group.

“A tricky fixture this will be facing Ivory Coast at home but our boys have proved to be equal to the task. They tend to come to the party when we least expect them to deliver against big teams. Ivory Coast is beatable, and history has already proven this.

“Pressure will be on Ivory Coast. Our team is driven by ambition, while for Ivory Coast, it will be about protecting their identity,”

“Ivory Coast is coming from a loss to Sierra Leone and that should give us impetus to fight and qualify for the Afcon with a game to spare. They are a beatable side because testimonies are already there. They will come wounded, but our boys must prove a point that they are worthwhile to be in the national team,”
