Lumwana out of relegation as Eagles and Arrows settle for a draw
Green Eagles and Red Arrows passed up an opportunity to move up on the log table as they shared the spoils in a rescheduled MTN/FAZ Super League week 11 encounter.
Choma based outfit Green Eagles welcomed Red Arrows with the hosts looking to break in the top four with a win and Arrows eying the second spot.
Eagles had the perfect start to the first half as winger Amity Shamende put them in the lead barely three minutes into the match. 2012 AFCON winner James Chamanga pulled the Airmen level in the 30th minute.
The goal was the 39-year-olds seventh of the campaign making him the top goalscorer among Zambian players and was enough to earn Chisi Mbewe’s side a point away at the Independence Stadium.
It’s was Lumwana Radiants however who were the biggest winners of the day as they moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 win over Nakambala Leopards.
Emmanuel Manda put the Uranium Boys in the lead in the 35th following a defensive error. Richard Zulu doubled the lead in the 69th to help Lumwana record an emphatic 2-0 win.
The win takes Lumwana Radiants to 11th on the log with 13 points while Nakambala Leopards remain stuck in the relegation zone.
