Patson Daka happy to have scored two goals against Liverpool
Liverpool game a big motivation for my confidence -Patson Daka
Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka says Tuesdays Friendly game against English Premier League Champions, Liverpool is a big motivation and a confidence booster for him.
Daka scored a first-half brace as Redbull Salzburg played out to a 2-2 draw with the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League winners at the Redbull Arena on Tuesday.
The 2017 CAF young player of the year believes he still has a lot to learn and playing big games helps him to grow in his game.
“Tuesday’s game was a big motivation for my confidence and direction of improvement cause I know I still have a lot to learn and playing such big games helps us to grow in our game,” Patson Daka told the ZamFoot Crew in an exclusive interview.
Daka is happy to have scored the two goals and says he takes every game as a Competitive match and not a friendly match. Daka reiterated his love for scoring goals and his intention to always give his best.
“It’s always a great feeling doing what you love to do and in my case, I love to score goals which is my duty and in my world of living there’s no friendly game I always want to give my best, better I fail while giving it my best than succeed whilst giving it less,” he said.
The Kafue Celtic product was on song last season scoring 27 goals in all competitions with 12 assists but he does not want the fans to expect anything from him as his main objective is to help his team.
“I don’t expect you to expect anything from me because you might end up being disappointed, I always stay in my lane and do the best I can to help the team achieve it’s goals and my personal goals so if you have your own goals which you expect me to achieve as I’m not aware of then you’ll end up being heartbroken.”
Salzburg gave up a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Liverpool as Rhian Brewster scored a brace to make sure the match ended in a draw.
Brewster pulled one back in the 71st minute after good work by James Milner to set him up inside the box. The youngster drew the Reds level eleven minutes later after poor goalkeeping from Alexander Walke provided a chance and he pounced on the ball and no mistake to make it 2-2.
Next up for Salzburg is an Austrian ÖFB Cup encounter against lower tier, side Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz on Saturday before facing Bayern München II in their last friendly match. They will start the season with a tricky encounter against Wolfsberger AC on 13th September.
