Five teams have booked places for the 15th edition of the ABSA Cup with four from the MTN Super League.
Green Buffaloes (2015), Red Arrows (2013) and Nkana (2018) will be hoping to add another ABSA Cup title to their names having already secured their places.
Green Eagles, yet to play in an ABSA Cup final will be hoping to reach their first cup final while 2017 runners up Napsa Stars will be representing the National First Division.
Following this Friday’s double header at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu’ in rescheduled MTN Super League matches, the last two clubs from the top tier will be revealed.
Prison Leopards host Zesco United in a lunch time kickoff, while Kabwe Warriors will welcome Zanaco in a 3pm kickoff.
A win for Kabwe Warriors and a draw for Zesco United will be enough to send both clubs ABSA Cup quarter finals.
Nkwazi and Power Dynamos can qualify if Warriors and Zesco falter on Friday.
From the National First Division, Napsa Stars might be joined by either Lumwana Radiants or Kitwe United.
Despite having failed to record a win in their last 3 matches, Perry Mutapa’s pensioners have 32, a point above second placed Lumwana Radiants.
Third placed Kitwe United are 29 points.
While the rest of the teams in the second tier have played 17 matches, coincidently it is Lumwana and Kitwe United with a game less.
This means that the game has now become an ABSA Cup playoff.
Bilton Kuba Musonda’s Lumwana Radiants need to avoid a defeat against Chingalika for them to qualify.
