Kangwanda confident of carrying the day in Mozambique

Chipolopolo forward Albert Kangwanda is confident the Chipolopolo Boys will carry the day on Sunday when they face off with Mozambique in the first leg of the first round of the 2022 African Nations Championship qualifiers.

Kangwanda who scored the winning goal in the final of the 2022 COSAFA Cup believes winning the regional showpiece is morale booster for the team.

The new Red Arrows man says the team has put their COSAFA triumph behind them and they are fully focused on the challenge ahead.

“Everyone looks very focused and determined for Sundays game. Looking at how we performed in the previous tournament, the COSAFA Cup, we have shifted focus to what is ahead of us we continue to stay focused and determined,” he said.

“Well it’s very encouraging for us looking at all the efforts we put in preparing for the COSAFA Cup and emerged as Champions. It is a huge boost for us so all we have to do is continue working hard and believing in ourselves.”

“We want it all but football is a game of chances, all we have come for here is to carry the day so that it can be easier for us to play at home. We continue to believe in ourselves and working hard, We will surely win the game,” he added.

Kangwanda has asked the fans to turn up in numbers and support the team when they host the Mambas in the return leg next week Saturday.

“My message to the fans is thank for supporting us in the COSAFA tournament and we ask that you continue supporting us and we pray that you turn up in numbers to come and support us,” he said.

The Chipolopolo face the mambas in Maputo on Sunday at 15:00 hours before hosting Mozambique at National Heroes Stadium on July 30.

Winner over two legs will play Malawi in the final qualifying round. The Flames were handed a walkover following their opponents still Zimbabwe being banned by FIFA.
