Kaloum complain over Trade Fair Ground pitch

Zesco United’s opponents in the CAF Champions League AS Kaloum of Guinea on Tuesday protested over the Trade Fair grounds where they trained in preparation for the weekend match.

Kaloum who arrived about midday on Monday from Mali where the team has set up base due to the Ebola crisis in their country complained over the training pitch.

But Zesco issued an apology and agreed to trim the grass at Ndola’s Trade Fair Grounds as requested Kaloum coach Francois Zahoui.

Club media and public relations officer Katebe Chengo said in Ndola that the ground men have periodically been working on the pitch.

“We apologise if the grass is not cut to what they [Kaloum] want but the grounds men have been working on the pitch. The pitch is ready,” said Chengo at the joint briefing with Kaloum media liaison officer Bah Mohamed Lamine.

Kaloum flew into Zambia early owing to challenges of flight connections from Bamako.

The game will be played on Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa stadium.
