French Ligue 1 side Lille have tabled an offer for Chipolopolo captain Rainford Kalaba.

According to a tweet by Kennedy Gondwe monitored by the ZamFoot Crew, TP Mazembe are currently studying the offer.

Gondwe – French side Lille have sent an offer to TP Mazembe for Rainford Kalaba and the DRC side are studying it, Moise Katumbi tells me.

The 28 year old midfielder moved to Mazembe in 2011 and has previously had a stint in France but did not break into the main team at Nice.

He also played in Portugal for Bragga where he was loaned to Uniao de Leiria and Gil Vicente.

Lille will is currently being coached by former Zambia national team coach Herve Renard

  1. Let this boy go to lille. This is a chance of a life time and next year he may well find himself playing in the uefa champions league. On another note zambia should consider playing a friendly with Peru. I am impressed with this country from what I’ve seen at the copa America. Peru is a real classy team and can test zambia. Peru must be one of the most underrated teams in the world

    • john. am inviting u to be part of a soccer chat group on whattsapp. if u r interested. hit me on this line +260 979-506-925

  2. This is a chance for Kalaba to play in Europe. He’s done enough for Mazembe
and he must seek new challenges elsewhere.

  3. I hope the player himself sees this as an opportunity of a life time putting into consideration his age as well. It is extremely rare for a European club to make an offer to an African player plying his trade in Africa who is above the 24/25 year age group so this is massive.

TP on the other hand will obviously not come to the party considering their challenge in the CAF games especially after the draw last weekend and also their habit of over pricing players. I hope the player himself makes it known to the club that he would like to take up the opportunity.

  4. This should be a lesson to Mayuka, the fact that HR is not pressing for his signature shows that even HR who is like a father to him has given up on him. He really needs to rethink the direction of his career, he should request a loan move and move to a lower league otherwise he will phase out. Now that he is not even making the starting line up in the national team should at the very least worry him.

He has not ticked in two high profile leagues, English and French so maybe he should look to lesser quality leagues for now to rebuild his confidence. He still has age on his side.

  5. dear john thats a good notion to have our beloved team play peru but i feel the last time we played brazil we didnt learn any lessons from it. We were smashed at afcon. I strongly feel even the peru game wont add any value to our team specially that faz is in a disorganised state. We failing to appoint a coach hence we are living in a state of trial and error. Once We get our vision right then peru game would really be good for us.

  6. Kalaba should migrate to Europe now. Its time and being captain he will encourage the upcoming players to be in Europe.

  7. Its about time Kalaba moves to Europe. This is an offer he should not even hesitate. It will also open a lot of doors for other Zambian players.

  8. Kalaba is not interested in a move to Europe. He is one guy who is not ready to play for a team where there will be high expectations from him in terms of performance(demand on his performance) He is not ready at his age to start fighting for a position week in week out. He feels he is in a comfort zone and the cash is not bad. Zambian players gets satisfied easily!

  9. I think Kalaba needs to learn a few things before stepping to europe
    1. African players are taken to Europe on account of size and strenght.
    2. Dimunitive players should exceptionally skillful to catch a club’s eye because they borrow skill from south america if they need it.
    3. You might be almost finished if u dont impress on a loan stint when u r sent.
KALABA should make himself indispensible else could be regretting

  10. May be kalaba will improve if he happen to go to europe.Kalaba has gone down since 2010 and 2012 Africon.Kalaba is player who can win as many trophies but lacks maturety he does no wen cut inside and shoot at goal,he likes going to the byeline always and crosses,in modern football most crosses are done by fullbacks. He does not when to take the match personal wen their is 20 mimutes left.Great kalu will be always great cause he played football with the mind and the whole body.

    • Very true. Kalaba should learn to cut inside and shoot for sure. He could have scored 1 or 2 goals if he opted to cut inside. But he prefers to go all the way to the by line and cross.

  11. To be honest, Kalaba doesn’t have what it takes to be successful in Europe. He’s exceptionally talented but he also has some serious flaws. He’s a good dribbler, has good vision and passing ability when played in a central position, has great technique when it comes to ball control, but his deliveries at set pieces are extremely poor. His corners, free kicks and crosses are woeful. When he is man marked he switches off completely. I doubt he can withstand the physical demands of European football because of his slight build. All the best to him though. I hope he makes it.

    • Are you sure kalaba is not good at set pieces ? All the set pieces Zambia has score when his on the pitch he has been the one providing those assists .Kalaba is currently Zambias best player and I am sure if he gets this opportunity he shall easily make football wise .For me he ranks very high among African players I put in the top 5 .

  12. I honestly won’t blame Kalaba if he doesn’t go. The guy had a stint with Nice in France and another in Portugal with some club that kept loaning him to lower division teams. He is still jaded by the cutthroat nature of football in Europe. He is at TP Mazembe and getting paid well, playing on a regular basis, and is clearly appreciated. Either way, hope whatever he decides works out.

  13. Lets not put too much pressure on Kalaba. The question is..Is he ready for the move after 2 failed attempts. Remember what happened to Nathan Sinkala….He is back to TP
