Joseph Phiri- Young Zesco United’s upcoming defensive kingpin
Born in Luanshya on the Copperbelt Province of Zambia, on 4th May 2001, Joseph Phiri is a Central Defender who plays for Young Zesco United Football Club.
Joseph Phiri began his footballing career playing for Rail Line United Football Club in Luanshya before he moved to Lusaka and joined OYDC Academy. He later went back to the Copperbelt Province and found his new home in Ndola by joining Young Zesco United Football Club, which is a feeder team to Super League side Zesco United Football Club as well as the other teams which bear the Zesco name around the country under the sponsorship of the power utility company.
The Young Zesco defender looks up to NAPSA Stars defender Luka Banda has his role model because of the way he plays in the heart of the defense for the Pensioners.
Internationally he is inspired by Real Madrid and Spanish defender, Sergio Ramos, who is one of the best center backs in the world with a record of more than 100 goals to his name.
Phiri is also Nicknamed ‘Sergio’ after the Los Blancos captain ‘Ramos’ because of his No-Nonsense abilities and as well as being a tough defender to beat by opponents
Phiri who describes himself as Wamusegede and No-Nonsense defender told the ZamFoot Crew that he is working hard and revealed that he has dreams of playing in the Super League, Later going abroad and his wish is to feature for the Zambia National Team one day.
