Janza honored to be Napsa technical director…As he toots applause for Napsa in Continental journey
Former Chipolopolo boss Honor Janza says he is humbled and honored to have been appointed as Napsa Stars’ technical director.
The former Mbabane Swallows and Red Arrows boss will oversee all the operations of the club including supervising the technical teams for both the senior and junior teams as well as performing the administrative functions.
Janza believes Napsa Stars are getting back to their better days and are on track to get great honors for themselves and also for the country.
“I’m humbled with the appointment that Napsa has given to me. It shows confidence and trust in me to be the Technical Director of the club Napsa, Its an honor, I just want to thank the board, the executive and the rest of the club for this offer,” he said.
“My impression about the club, I think looking at the way Napsa is coming up and where it’s coming from, Yes at one point, I think it was one of the big clubs, in the days of the late Derby Makinka’s it was a big Club in the football circles, And yes at one point, Maybe they had gone a bit lower but I think in the past two/three years, my Impression is that it is a team that has gained so much momentum, It’s a team that I think it has proved its existence in the Zambian league and It is a team that can bring great honors to the nation at the rate at which it’s going and the way it’s building its image. I think It’s coming back to its old days of yesteryears and its a team that anyone would love to associate with when it comes to football so for me, I think it’s my impression is that it’s a team that is on track to get great honors for itself and also for the country,” he added.
The 2012 AFCON winning technical director is confident that Napsa Stars can go far in the 2020/2021 CAF Confederation Cup. Janza feels they can even reach the group stage despite this being their debut season in the CAF Inter-clubs competition.
“If you are to rate it from the previous performance in the league, I think it has good almost equal opportunities and chances to go far, I think group stage and Beyond, I say so because I saw its fight the way they fought in the Super League and they I think at one point the almost were fighting relegation, but the way they picked up from there and built up their strength, their muscle and focus and for me, I think the momentum which they have picked up from the I the league if maintained and if pushed a bit further I think there’s a lot of opportunities. There’s a lot of opening and chances that NAPSA can get to the group stage the maybe who knows because the competition knows no boundary at a certain stage,” he said.
“Well, I think we still have a good reference in Zambia, I think everybody did not expect Green Eagles to perform the way they did bring the first coming into Continental football and they were entering the continental football as nonentities and everybody was like, what are they going to do and to make matters worse? They come from maybe a remote area. I think football now has changed its revolving. Football knowledge is all over and for me, I think the geographical position of NAPSA, being in Lusaka I think the exposure is high.”
“I’ve seen the players that are with Napsa and I think the players add value and they give a lot hope that Napsa will be able to compete like any other club despite the fact that it’s their first time going to Continental. They should not be intimidated, they just need character and determination, The same character they showed in the league, they just need to double it and stay focused and believe in themselves, I think honors are just within their hands,” he added.
Janza also served as Technical Director at the Football Association of Zambia, His last assignment was in Swaziland as Head Coach for Mbabane Swallows FC.
