COPPER Queens duo of striker Natasha Nanyangwe and defender Jackline Nkole are back in Zambia for further treatment following their respective injuries picked up in a match against Angola at the ongoing 2023 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa, which ruled them out of the tournament.
Nanyangwe was stretchered off eight minutes before the half time break after she collided with the Angolan goalkeeper Rita Jose while Nkole suffered a shoulder injury minutes before the end of the match.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has facilitated their evacuation for further medical treatment and rehabilitation so that they can return to the pitch as soon as possible.
Natasha Nanyangwe plays for FAZ Super Division League champions Green Buffaloes while Jackline Nkole is part of the Ndola outfit Indeni Roses Football Club.
Zambia, who are the defending champions of the COSAFA tourney, qualified to the semi-finals as Group B winners with 7 points and they will face Zimbabwe, the winners of Group C, in the first of the semi-finals on Friday, 13th October, 2023 at 12h00.
Meanwhile their group opponents Mozambique, who qualified as the best second-placed team across all three groups, will battle in-form Malawi, who topped Group A in the other semi-final at 15h00. Both games are set for Lucas Moripe Stadium.
