Grant to name Chipolopolo provisional for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Zambia coach Avram Grant is set to name his provisional squad for next months’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Tanzania and Niger.

Zambia will be away on October 8 against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam before wrapping up the qualifiers against Niger in Ndola, three days later.

Grant is expected to keep faith with most of the players who featured against Morocco.

The former Chelsea manager will use the two matches as ‘preparatory matches’ for the AFCON which starts in November.

England based striker Patson Daka and Fashion Sakala from Saudi Arabia will make the squad.

Klings Kangwa, who captained the side against Morocco will also be in the squad.

Other are Europeans based players like Miguel Chaiwa, Lameck Banda, Joseph Sabobo Banda, Kennedy Musonda and Emmanuel Banda.

Experienced duo Edward Chilufya and Lubambo Musonda will also be part of the squad.

Grant is expected to blend foreign based players with the locally based players.

The Chipolopolo Boys are on six points after winning against Congo Brazzaville and getting free points off the same opponent after they were temporarily banned by FIFA because of third-party interference in the affairs of the country’s football association (Fecofoot).

Tanzania and Niger are second and third in the group with 10 and 9 points respectively while Zambia is fourth.

Morocco has already qualified and top of the group with 21 points.
