Gampy promises to work hard when he gets another national team call up
Gamphani Lungu patiently waiting for his time at the national team
Zambian striker Gamphani Jones Lungu believes he will get his chance to play for the national team and that he is patiently waiting for his time to come.
Lungu has been the center of discussion in the recent past after scoring two goals and assisting one in his last four games as his South African Premier Soccer League club Supersport United fight for a place in the CAF Inter-clubs competition.
The former Power Dynamos forward says playing for the Copper Bullets is his dream and he has been fortunate enough to have realized that dream. Lungu however still wants more game time with the Chipolopolo Boys to help the team achieve its targets.
“The national team it’s everyone’s dream am fortunate enough to have played for my national team and I still want to be there and help the team get to places it has never been. We want to go to the World Cup and with the talent we have and a brilliant technical bench we have, yeah,” Lungu told the ZamFoot Crew in an exclusive interview.
“I want to play everything, honestly every chance I get am going to play and do my best, I want to have a life of no regrets and make a better life for my family.”
“Everything comes from me working hard here. If I don’t do well here I can’t play. If I am brilliant here and do my best I will get my chance at the national team and when it comes I just need to work hard and do what I can,” he added.
Lungu who is fondly referred to as Gampy or Mr. Jones by his mates came to prominence back in 2017 as he helped National Assembly to win promotion to the Super League with 17 goals and 23 assists.
The Matsatsantsa forward got his first call up to the national team back in 2018 when the then Chipolopolo coach Sven Vandenbroek named him among the 26 players to travel to Namibia for a Cameroon 2019 AFCON qualifier on September 8th.
