Former clubs, fans mourn Shonga

Thousands of people have expressed shock after hearing the the death of former Zambia striker Justine Shonga.

The 27 year old died in Lusaka on Sunday after a short ilness.

Below is a reaction from the clubs he played for.

Cape Town City: We are saddened to hear about the passing of former Citizen, Justin Shonga. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.

Nkwazi: We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.

Sydney Chisoko: There was some deadly combination in Chipolopolo colours. Justine Shonga, Brian Mwila, Augustine Mulenga. We then added Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu. Cameroon, Algeria knows the story well.

Justin Shonga will comfortably get that free kick. Nkwazi his parent club enjoyed his goals from the dead ball situation.

Shonga’s Death is one difficult to accept. He was just a guy who loved football.

Kansanshi Dynamos are deeply devastated to learn about the passing of Chipolopolo and former Nkwazi FC striker, Justine Shonga, who died last evening after a short illness.

We join the entire football fraternity in mourning such an exceptional talent.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Shonga’s family, friends, and all soccer fans mourning this loss.

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga says Shonga’s death is more devastating given that he was still young.

“On behalf of Fy executive committee and the entire football family, I wish to convey my heartfelt sympathies to the Shonga family over the death of Justin. Everyone in Zambian football knows what Shonga did for the game and we will celebrate his contribution as we mourn him,” says Kamanga.
