Football Chance Foundation using the power of football to make a difference
Football Chance Foundation (FCF) is a Lusaka based team that made its debut appearance in the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Women’s League in The 2019/20 Season.
FCF is a project that uses ‘The Power of Football’ to make a difference in the lives of young people within the community especially those from Mtendere both on and off the pitch.
FCF consists of mainly young players from Mtendere and they play their home matches inside The Natural Resources Development College (NRDC) Grounds located in the capital city of Zambia.
The Academy is Coached by Prince Alfred Shaba who is commonly known as “Never-Say-Die” because of his strong winning mentality and fighting spirit.
Last year, the coach Shaba drilled lasses produced one of the best and talented young players Bupe Banda who was part of the Zambia Women’s Under-17 COSAFA Squad in South Africa were they minted Silver losing in a nail-biting final 4-3 to Tanzania on post-match penalties after both sides settled for a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Banda was impressive and she managed to register her name on the scoresheet at the tournament with a goal which came in Zambia’s 3-nil victory over Comoros Island.
FCF works with 450 young people (boys and girls) each week in Mtendere and offers a Back2School program which ensures those having challenges with education are taken back to school and Bupe Banda is also one of the beneficiaries of the same program because before she joined FCF, she never used to go to school neither play football but after joining the foundation she was taken back to school and she went on to score high grades at Grade 7 and managed to make it to Grade 8.
In addition to this, the Foundation also has a boys team that is doing well in the Youth League in the country.
FCF works with young people from London and Mtendere Communities by ensuring that they help talented young boys and girls to develop both their Football and Life Skills.
