FAZ Women’s league: Second round gets under way as Buffaloes complete double over BUSA
The FAZ Women’s League gets back to business this weekend with return matches awaiting us in the Lusaka Region. National Assembly will be away from home against Olympic Flying Queens as Red Arrows play host to Kafue Cranes.
Elsewhere Green Eagles will entertain Pamalat while Nkwazi will host Lusaka Queens in Chibolya. Luyando Foundation will be at home taking on Chiparamba Breakthrough Sports Academy to wrap up week 14 weekend action.
Green Buffaloes on Friday May 24th, 2019 travelled to Bauleni to lock horns with Bauleni Queens and the soldiers triumphed 2 goals to 1 courtesy of a Maylan Mulenga Brace with both assists coming from Recheal Nachula. Marian scored a consolation for the home team from a Salome Phiri assist.
OLYMPIC FLYING QUEEENS – NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Struggling Olympic Flying Queens will be up against National Assembly who are full of confidence after they defeated Bauleni Queens last weekend and they will look forward to another victory away from home. The first leg ended 4-1 in favor of the Parliamentarians who are still fighting for the league title. The home team has slim chances of picking up maximum points as they have struggled in most of their games this season.
RED ARROWS – KAFUE CRANES
Having rested last weekend, Red Arrows is back on the pitch and this time around they welcome Kafue Cranes who have proved to be a force to reckon with when it comes to scoring, but coming up against the Air Women the Cranes should brace themselves for a stern challenge and be ready to battle it out.
Arrows thrashed Cranes 6 – 0 in the first round and will be looking to complete a double over the Kafue based outfit who are expected to put up a spirited fight and hoping everyone in the team rises to the occasion if at all they want to cause an unlikely upset at Nkoloma Stadium.
GREEN EAGLES – PAMALAT
Green Eagles will be at Makeni ZNS Camp hosting Pamalat. With the reverse fixture ending in a 2-2 draw both teams will be looking to fight for maximum points and will have to play their lungs out just to win this tie. Eagles playing at home will have to utilize this advantage and a win for the ZNS Sponsored outfit will keep their title hopes alive while Pamalat will aim to avoid a second defeat in a row and hope to redeem themselves and fight for victory but it won’t be easy for them against a strong Eagles side.
NKWAZI – LUSAKA QUEENS
Having been awarded 3 points last weekend after their opponents failed to show up, Nkwazi will host Lusaka Queens another struggling side all the way from Chilanga who face an uphill battle at Chibolya Ground. Towera Nkhata has been influential for the Police sponsored outifit and this too could be another game for her to prove a point that she’s one of the best attacking midfielders in the league alongside Cecilia Mwape upfront. Having won 3 – 0 in the first round, Nkwazi will go out gun blazing to complete business with Lusaka Queens who still have a bright future ahead of them but still have a lot to learn from the big teams in the league.
The ZamFoot Crew spoke to Masamba Euniver who is one of the High Flying Nkwazi strikers ahead of this match and she is bubbling with confidence. She’s optimistic they will carry the day by scoring more than 3 goals since they will be playing at home.
LUYANDO FOUNDATION – CHIPARAMBA BREAKTHROUGH
This will be a battle of two of the youngest teams in the league if at all Chiparamba will this time around fulfill this fixture slated for Kanyama Ground. Despite this being a debut appearance in the league for Luyando Foundation, they have proved to be a strong team to beat. Having won 3 – 0 in the reverse fixture Luyando will be confident of picking up maximum points especially playing in front of their partisan crowd who are always entertained by their passing game and style of play. Chiparamba will have to rise to the occasion and give Luyando a good run for their money to guarantee themselves victory away from home.
FULL TIME : BAULENI QUEENS 1 – 2 GREEN BUFFALOES
BUSA Queens were hoping to pull out a surprise as they hosted log leaders Green Buffaloes who have been a very hard nut to crack weather playing at home or away from home and is the only side still unbeaten in the league going into this fixture. Bauleni were coming from a 2 – 1 home defeat at the hands of National Assembly while Buffaloes overcame Yasa Queens by 1-goal to Nil in a hard fought victory.
Having won 6 – 0 in the first round at Arakan Ground in a league opener on February 23rd, GBFC were the favorite going into this fixture.
The Soldiers lived up to expectations as Maylan Mulenga scored a brace to make sure they complete a double for the season over BUSA as they won 2 – 1 both goals were provided by Recheal Nachula while BUSA scored a consolation through Marian.
