FAZ set to switch league title decider play off because of Cosafa Cup final date clash
The Football Association of Zambia, FAZ might be forced to switch the 2019 MTN Super League title decider play which is scheduled to be played on June 8, 2019.
This follows the clash of dates with the Cosafa 2019 Cup as well the unavailability of foreign players who away on international duty preparing for the CAF 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt for their respective countries.
FAZ had earlier on announced that the title decider playoff between Stream A Champions Green Eagles and Stream B Champions Green Eagles will be set for Lusaka’s Heroes Stadium on June 8, 2019.
But it collides with the Cosafa Cup final date.
While Green Eagles were going to be without head coach Aggrey Chiyangi, goalkeeper Sebastian Mwange and striker Tapson Kaseba, Zesco would be severely hit with seven key players missing out.
Joining the Green Eagles trio at Cosafa Cup are influential striker Lazarous Kambole, defensive duo Clement Mwape and Mwila Phiri from Zesco United.
East African trio Enoch Sabumunaka (Burundi)
Enoch Sabumukama, Anthony Akumu and David Owino (both Kenya) have linked up with their international counterparts ahead of the AFCON in Egypt.
Striker Rahim Ousumane will leave for Ghana on Thursday to mourn his late Father.
All away on International duty.
Green Eagles and Zesco United will represent Zambia in the CAF Champions League.
In a 3rd/4th playoff, CAF Confederations Cup envoys Buildcon and Zanaco are also likely to lose players because their involvement in the AFCON preps.
