FAZ postpone two week 26 Super League games

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has postponed two MTN/FAZ Super League week 26 matches the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.

FAZ confirmed the development in an internal Memorandum by Zambia Super League manager Brian Mulenga which was accessed by the ZamFoot Crew.

The two games deferred to a future date are Kansanshi Dynamos clash with Green Eagles and Power Dynamos tussle with Forest Rangers.

FAZ has also revealed that games will only be postponed if a team has less than 15 players and decisions will only be made on a case by case basis.

“We have received several requests from clubs to suspend or postpone fixtures due to adverse COVID-19 results. We will only entertain these requests if a club has less than 15 players available from the registered pool of players available and decisions will be made on a case by case basis on whether matches should be played or not.” read part of the memo.

“We are urging teams to retest players after 10 days and 14 days respectively. Teams can only be quarantined and isolated in their entirety if ordered to do so by the Provincial Health Director only as per Sl 21 and 22 of 2020.

Best practice at present is for the negative players to be separated from the positive players and isolated for 14 days. Retesting of players will have to be done at regular intervals in order to monitor their COVID-19 status. Teams that have received a written instruction to quarantine and isolate must communicate this to the association as quickly as possible for further action.”

Kansanshi Dynamos have not been training following a directive from the North Western Provincial Health director amid fears of widespread Coronavirus while Forest Rangers have been in Isolation since 28 members of their squad tested positive to COVID-19 two weeks ago.

FAZ has also urged all teams to take full precautions and when isolating to ensure players and officials who have been isolated remain so.

The Association has also warned that it will not hesitate to sanction teams disobeying the Ministry of Health instructions.
