The Football Association of Zambia FAZ has resolved to meet Super Division clubs to discuss on how Zambia representatives in next season’s CAF continental competitions will be decided.
FAZ issued a statement last week stating that Zambia’s representatives will be decided by the league standings as at week 35 on 7th of October, 2018.
FAZ further announced that they will realign the 2019 season to correspond with this requirement.
However, FAZ has now called an urgent meeting with stakeholders to chart the way forward on the directive given by CAF.
Below is the full statement from FAZ.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has called for a stakeholders’ meeting to chart the way forward on the October 15 deadline given by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to submit the four representatives from Zambia.
FAZ will meet club representatives from the Super Division clubs at Golden Peacock this Friday at which the matters surrounding the continental envoys will be discussed.
CAF has informed its members of the revised calendar that will see the continental competitions staged from August through to May, following the same schedule as most of the major African leagues and also that of the European club competitions.
The current Champions League and African Confederation Cup are the last to be staged within a calendar year.
The Zambian Super League traditionally ends in November but will have to be staged in conformity with the new CAF calendar next year.
