Fathi, Makinka unveiled as head coach and first assistant at Kansanshi Dynamos

MTN Super League side Kansanshi Dynamos have unveiled former NAPSA Stars head coach Mohamed Fathi and U17 National team boss Dennis Makinka as head coach and first assistant respectively.

Fathi has penned a short term deal with the Mabanga Boys which will see him at the helm of the Solwezi based outfit until the end of the season.

The Egyptian gaffer recently enlisted for the prestigious CAF Pro Elite Licence course, marking another important step in his coaching development

“The club officially introduced Egyptian tactician Mohamed Fathi as the new Head Coach, taking over from former coach Zeddy Saileti.”

Fathi, a respected figure in Zambian football, who has signed up to the end of the 2025/26 season, expressed confidence that the team can rise again with proper organisation, discipline and renewed ambition.

“It’s a good organization, a big organization, but it’s not in the right position,” Fathi said during his unveiling at Solwezi’s Independence Stadium.

“We are trying to put this team where it deserves to be, on top of the league. We have a plan with the president and the executive, and our target is to get the team into the top eight, and hopefully push for the top four.”

Meanwhile Makinka has signed a two year contract. Makinka recently led the Zambia U17 National Team at the FIFA U-17 World Cup as they made history progressing from the group stage in their debut tournament.

Makinka said he did not hesitate to join Kansanshi Dynamos, describing the club as a project with strong ambition and passionate supporters.

“Kansanshi is a big club with big ambitions. I’m here to give my best and be part of the group that turns things around,” Makinka said.

“The fans here are amazing, and we want to give them positive results.”

The full technical bench includes Second Assistant Coach Yoram Kasempa, Physical Trainer Buchi Mfune, and Goalkeeper Coach Humphrey Kapoma.

Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club President Douglas Nyirenda made it clear that relegation was not part of their vocabulary.

“Everyone on this technical bench understands one thing: relegation is not a topic for Kansanshi Dynamos FC. We are here to compete, to improve, and to rise,” he said.

“The executive and sponsors have done their part. Now it is your turn. Excuses are not part of the results we want to see. When you win on the pitch, you bring glory to the community.”
