Enock Mwepu confident of a Salzburg win this afternoon
Redbull Salzburg failed to score for the first time in over a year last Wednesday when they traveled to Wolfsberg to face Wolfsberger AC but the Zambian midfielder believes the Champions will get maximum points today.
Mwepu says the team is motivated and wants to win today. The ‘Computer’ was also quick to heap praise on Wolfsberger’s organization in Wednesday’s game and singled out goalkeeper Alexander Kofler as one of the best performers.
“Perhaps we need to be a bit more concentrated with our finishing. WAC surprised us in Wolfsberg by playing with a back three. That won’t happen to us again. After the goalless draw, we are even more motivated, of course, and we are determined to win the home match,” Mwepu told Redbull Salzburg’s official website.
“Yeah, that’s right, but we nevertheless played well at WAC. We weren’t lacking in mentality or anything in our performance, but we just didn’t have the little bit of luck we needed. On top of that, you have to say that WAC played really well and was very structured in defense, in particular. Their goalkeeper was superb on Wednesday!”
Second-placed Rapid Wien on the other hand beat Hartberg 1-0 hence reducing Salzburg’s lead to just five points. Mwepu however says the team is not under pressure and is only concentrating on their games.
“No, not really. We are just looking at ourselves and not on those behind us. We have so much quality in our squad, and the responsibility is totally our own. If we perform as best as we can, we can win every match. That’s what we want to do too. We love winning – you can feel that in each training session and on matchdays,” he said.
Salzburg will host Wolfsberger AC this afternoon at the Redbull Arena at 17:00hrs.
Mwepu’s compatriot Patson Daka will be looking to continue his chase for the Golden boot. Daka has managed 23 strikes in 26 games, Two shy of leading goalscorer Shon Zalman Weissman.
