end of an era as Arrows release nine long-serving players
Zambia Airforce sponsored side Red Arrows has released nine of its long-serving players, The club confirmed in a press statement made available to the ZamFoot Crew.
Arrows Chairman Colonel Innocent Jere who announced the development on Friday said the club was highly indebted to the players for the invaluable contributions that they have made to the team over the years.
“Red Arrows Football Club has saluted its long-serving members of the team ahead of the 2020/2021 football season for their invaluable contributions to the club and Zambian football at large.”
Col Jere wished the players well in their new roles and future endeavors as they part ways with Airmen after a decade-plus of loyal service.
“As we part ways and release you today, Arrows is highly indebted for the huge and invaluable contributions you made to the team and the Nation throughout this long faithful football journey. Your names and contributions will forever remain in the Zambia national football team and Arrows book of legends. Arrows still remain your home and we can only wish you the best of luck in your new roles to come or indeed your future endeavors,” Col Jere said.
Among those released is veteran midfielder Daniel ‘Deco’ Sibanda, Bronson Chama, Joseph ‘Joliba’ Zimba, Jimmy Chisenga, goal minder Danny Munyao, midfielder Evans Musonda, defender Webster Mulenga and Roderick Zimba. Others are Alex Sichone and young goalkeeper McLean Nkhoma who has been sent on loan for development.
The club has offered Chama, Sibanda, Munyao, and Mulenga an option of being elevated to various technical roles within the various Arrows teams.
The club confirmed that it is in the market for new players and will make an announcement once everything is concluded.
Arrows are scheduled to resume preparations for the 2020/21 season on Monday, 07 September 2020 in readiness for the league that is expected to commence on 17 October 2020.
