Dynamos storm ABSA Cup final after thrashing hapless Zanaco
Lusaka Dynamos stormed into the ABSA Cup finals after thumping Zanaco at Kitwe’s Arthur Davies Stadium on Saturday after in a lunch time kickoff.
A first half goal from Ocean Mushure and two in the second half from Aubrey Funga, and Emmanuel Chabula earned ‘The Elite’ a 3 nil win over the bankers.
Lusaka Dynamos revenged their 2-1 defeat to Zanaco suffered in the league at Sunset Stadium a week ago in style.
Zimbabwean left back Mushure stunned Zanaco goalkeeper Mangani Banda after he scored direct from a corner kick to give Wedson Nyirenda’s men.
After the break, Zanaco coach Chris Kaunda made two changes.
Underperforming duo Kevin Owusu and Ernest Mbewe were replaced by John Mwewa and Lassa Kiala respectively as the bankers went for an equaliser.
Despite the re-arrangement of his troops, Kaunda’s men failed to stamp their authority and it was no surprise when influential midfielder Kelvin Kapumbu was replaced by Chisamba Lungu.
Lusaka Dynamos continued to dominate the game and they were rewarded when Marvin Jere and Libamba and Moyela combined down the right flank to release Aubrey Funga.
Funga, one time on the books of Zanaco unleashed a clashing shot that left Mangani hapless to give ‘The Elite’ a 2-goal caution.
Lusaka Dynamos’ defensive duo Magenge Makabaniso and Poso Bionick held their own at the back as they kept Moses Phiri and Rodger Kola at bay.
While many expected misfiring striker Emmanuel Chabula to start, Nyirenda opted to go with Lusaka Dynamos youth product Moyela Libamba as a lone striker but it was the Chipolopolo striker who came off the bench to score an injury time goal to put the game beyond Zanaco’s reach.
Aubrey Funga was named man of the match and went home with a K15,000.
Lusaka Dynamos awaits the winner between Konkola Blades and Zesco United.
