Disappointed Numba picks lessons from frustrating 2021/2022 Super League season

ZESCO United head Coach Numba Mumamba says he has picked lessons from a disappointing 2021/2022 Super League campaign.

The Zega Mambo boss believes the transfer window will give him a chance to prepare for next season and the CAF competition.

Despite being disappointed Magic is happy that his team has sealed a slot in CAF inter-clubs Competitions.

“We are extremely disappointed that we have lost the title. There are a lot of lessons that we have learnt from this seasons campaign. The transfer window will open another door for us to bring in players who can help us do better next season especially in CAF,” Numba told the club’s official website.

“I am delighted that we have managed to get a spot in CAF for next years calendar which is good for our team,” he added.

Red Arrows League title triumph on Sunday following a 4-1 emphatic win over Chambishi and with a little help from Nkwazi who held ZESCO to a goalless draw.

Speaking about the Nkwazi game, Numba said the Zambia police sponsored outfit is a tricky open who make life difficult for any team especially at their home.

Numba felt his team played better in the second stanza and created some good scoring opportunities.

“This is a very difficult place to come to and get maximum points. Nkwazi always makes life hard for any visiting team. They dominated play in the entire first half which made it hard for us to create chances,” he said.

We came back much stronger in the second half and created some good scoring opportunities for ourselves. A point away from home isn’t bad enough for us.”

ZESCO United will close the 2021/22 MTN Super League season next week Sunday against Zanaco in a match scheduled for the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.

The 2020/2021 Champions will finish second this season regardless of their result in the final game.

ZESCO has won six of the last ten Zambia Super League titles with Nkana winning two while Zanaco, and Red Arrows one each.
