Zambia U-17 maintain 100% winning run
COSAFA U-17:Zambia makes it three wins in three games.
Zambia U-17 national team edged South Africa 1-0 to maintain their 100 percent winning rate at the ongoing COSAFA U-17 Championship in South Africa.
Having already qualified for the final, Coach George Chilufya made eight changes to the team that won the last two games to seal a place in the final. Joseph ‘Sabobo’ Banda came from the bench to score the only goal of the game in the 84th minute to make it 3 wins from three games.
Rickson Ng’ambi combined well with Sabobo as he made a nice cross from the right of the South African goal-face to find the Barcelona Academy player alert; making no mistake as he calmly prodded home, beating Erasmus in the South Africa goal.
The Young Copper Bullets will again clash with South Africa in the final of the 2020 COSAFA Championship on Sunday to decide who walks away with the trophy.
The tournament has been played on a round-robin basis after four teams were disqualified due to having at least one ineligible player in their team. South Africa finished second in the group with 4 points while Zambia top with nine points.
The two teams who will play the final have also earned themselves a ticket to the TOTAL U-17 AFCON to be held in Morocco next year.
