Cosafa Cup: Zambia date Botswana
…as the Copper Bullets try to avoid a third consecutive defeat
Struggling defending Champions Zambia face a stern test against Botswana on Tuesday afternoon in a must win Cosafa Cup group.
Zambia’s qualification to the semi finals is blink following shock defeats to Lesotho and Swaziland on match day 1 and 2 respectively.
While the CAF 2012 African Cup of Nations has been struggling, the Zebras are gaining momentum.
Swaziland and South Africa are level on 6 points while the Chipolopolo Boys are bottom of the group.
Botswana and Lesotho are both on 3 points.
A defeat will not only deny Zambia qualification to the semis but also seal the fate of embattled Chipolopolo Boys coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.
Zambia has never lost a third consecutive defeat at group stage.
Veteran goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene is expected to start in goal while Kabaso Chongo might watch from the bench.
Simon Silwimba, Adrian Chama, Dominic Chanda and Zachariah Chilongoshi are expected to marshal the defence.
In midfield, Benson Sakala and Salulani Phiri are set to continue with Rodrick Kabwe and Moses Phiri on flanks.
Micho will choose from the misfiring Brian Mwila, Justin Shonga and Gamphani Lungu for his preferred front two.
Red Arrows’ Felix Bulaya is also an option should Micho decide to freshen up things upfront.
The match will kickoff at 3pm and will be live on SuperSport.
