Copper Bullets out to gun down Zebras
Zambia national soccer team will tonight kick start their African Nations Championship qualifiers with a tricky away encounter against Botswana at the Francistown Arena. This will be the 18th time the two Southern African countries are meeting with Zambia winning 10 matches, drawing 5 and just two matches the Zebras.
The Chipolopolo boys who are ranked 17th in Africa and 81st in the world are favorites in this encounter against the Zebras who are ranked 42nd in Africa and 147th in the world but football is not won on the field.
The Zebras will be looking to revenge the defeat they suffered at the hands of the Copper Bullets at last months COSAFA Championships.
Zambia will host the zebras on the 3rd of August in a return leg while Angola who is the favorites to pull through to the last round of the qualifiers will be away in eswatini on the 28th July and their return leg will be on the 2nd of August.
Chipolopolo caretaker Coach Aggrey Chiyangi has declared the team ready for the match.
“We arrived Wednesday night and had a medical clearance from the doctors on Thursday morning and everyone was declared fit hence we decided to get down to business and do some training,” He said following a loosening up session on Thursday.
Should Zambia get past Botswana they will meet either eswatini or Angola in the last round of qualifiers for the tournament which will be held in Cameroon after they replaced Ethiopia who could not meet the requirements.
