Coach Mohamed Fathi Enlists for Prestigious CAF Pro Elite Licence Course

Zambian-based coach Mohamed Fathi has enlisted for the prestigious CAF Pro Elite Licence course, marking another important step in his coaching development.

The former NAPSA Stars coach is currently undertaking the advanced training through the Egyptian Football Federation, which is conducting the programme for the first time. The course is designed for top-tier African coaches aspiring to reach the highest level of professional certification under CAF.

According to the Egyptian FA website monitored by Millennium Sport, the “Pro” training licence has attracted several renowned Egyptian football figures including Hossam Hassan, the technical manager of the Egyptian national team; Shawky Gharib, the former national team coach; Helmy Tulan, a member of the EFA’s technical committee; Rabee Yassine, the former youth team coach; Mohamed Youssef, sporting director of Al Ahly; Hamada Sidqi, Mohamed Wehba, Jamal Salama, Tarek El Ashry, Mohamed Oudah, Abdullah Darwish, Mohamed Kamel Kita, Abdul Sattar Sabry, Haitham Shaaban, Osama Arabi, Hussein Abdel Latif, Yasser Radwan, Sami Qmasan, Abdul Hamid Basioni, Alaa Abdel Al, Tamer Mustafa, Akram Abdul Majeed, Osama Nabih, and Mohamed Fathi himself.

Fathi, who joins former Zambia national team coach Wedson Nyirenda among the few Zambians pursuing this elite qualification, is best remembered for guiding NAPSA Stars to their historic debut in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage during the 2020/2021 season.

He has also coached Power Dynamos, Kabwe Warriors, CAYB Club in Morocco’s Professional League, and Abha SC in Saudi Arabia’s Professional League, as well as clubs in Oman and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Fathi was once shortlisted for the Zambia national team head coach position alongside Wedson Nyirenda.

  1. Maybe just give this guy and Janza the coach job of Zambia and keep Sichone add Katongo and Mweene. Why can’t Zambia follow Senegal, Gabon, Morocco who are doing well in Africa and internationally. The courses are there to improve on. Because football is not rocket science. If you’re a trained doctor in Zambia, you should be able to practice medicine anywhere in the world. Why is it difficult to have local coaches with the certification to the national team in ⚽ football???
