Chiyangi explains Chabula substitution
Zambia national team interim coach Aggrey Chiyangi has explained the reasoning behind his unpopular substitution of two-goal hero Emmanuel Chabula during Saturday’s draw with Eswatini.
Chiyangi withdrew the Nkwazi forward a minute after he had scored his second goal of the game to put Zambia 2-0 up. Chiyangi told the ZamFoot Crew that Chabula did not perform according to expectations despite scoring.
” If you asses him on the performance he did not do a lot of things we had asked him to do. He scored the two goals, yes but he did not perform the way we expected him to perform that’s why we had to pull him out,” he said.
Chiyangi believes what is important is qualifying for the tournament. He went on to describe the match as tough and noted improvement from Eswatini.
“The most important thing for us was to make sure the team qualify for the CHAN tournament. It was a very tough game. Eswatini has improved a lot and is playing very well. It’s not only Eswatini but most of the Southern African teams have improved a lot.”
The Copper Bullets booked their place in at the 2020 Cameroon CHAN tournament with a 3-2 aggregate win following a 2-2 draws with Eswatini at the National Heroes Stadium on Saturday.
