Chiyangi explains Chabula substitution

Zambia national team interim coach Aggrey Chiyangi has explained the reasoning behind his unpopular substitution of two-goal hero Emmanuel Chabula during Saturday’s draw with Eswatini.

Chiyangi withdrew the Nkwazi forward a minute after he had scored his second goal of the game to put Zambia 2-0 up. Chiyangi told the ZamFoot Crew that Chabula did not perform according to expectations despite scoring.

” If you asses him on the performance he did not do a lot of things we had asked him to do. He scored the two goals, yes but he did not perform the way we expected him to perform that’s why we had to pull him out,” he said.

Chiyangi believes what is important is qualifying for the tournament. He went on to describe the match as tough and noted improvement from Eswatini.

“The most important thing for us was to make sure the team qualify for the CHAN tournament. It was a very tough game. Eswatini has improved a lot and is playing very well. It’s not only Eswatini but most of the Southern African teams have improved a lot.”

The Copper Bullets booked their place in at the 2020 Cameroon CHAN tournament with a 3-2 aggregate win following a 2-2 draws with Eswatini at the National Heroes Stadium on Saturday.

Not making sense here. What did you expect him to do other than score. You expect him to play like Tapson…?

Coach we thank you very much for the break through but other than the two goals he scored what else did you expect from him because the stadia started reacting how do you remove a scoring player

the team conceded late goals due to poor game management by the coach.

Chiyangi got a wrong. He must apologise instead of telling us that what is important is to qualify.

Let Chiyangi concentrate on Green Eagles, he is not National team coach material, every thing about him is wrong, negative tactis, choice of players etc. How do you allow inform and experience player like Bruce Musakanya be on the bench and allow Tapson. Football is technical is not just running alot. Your games have been poor starting from COSAFA, even though we won it was boring. Actually I watched CHAN because of the love for my Zambia, otherwise most of your selected players play like defenders no exciting football. FAZ should quicly find another coach to take team to CHAN not Chiyangi and Mumamba.
