Chipolopolo back home after Turkey outing

The Zambia national team has arrived back from Turkey where they played two international friendly matches.

The Copper Bullets arrived back home this afternoon at the Kenneth Kaunda international Airport.

Foreign based players went back directly to their bases only the local players came back home.

Coach Aljosa Asanovic and his technical bench have remained behind for a short visit with their families.

Delegation leader, Jordan Maliti who is Lusaka Province FAZ Chairman, believes the trip served its intended purpose.

“The results were mixed, we won one and lost one but what was important was the pattern of play, and what type of team we are putting across. The trip served its purpose and we are going in the right direction,” Maliti said.

“We have to keep on building the team and give them quality friendlies so that the technical bench can plan on how the team should be playing going forward ahead of the AFCON qualifiers.”

Zambia celebrate Klings Kangwa’s super goal

Chipolopolo team Doctor, Dr. George Phiri has confirmed that the team did not suffer any major injuries.

“The two International matches went on very well we did not have any serious injuries but just minor knocks which are normal in every game. All the players are fit to go back to training at their clubs.”

Zambia beat Congo Brazzaville 3-1 on Friday thanks to goals from skipper Enock Mwepu, Klings Kangwa and a debut goal from Frankie Chisenga Musonda.

They were back in action on Sunday and suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Benin. Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba scored the goal for Zambia.

Asanovic was using the FIFA window to prepare for the June round of the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
