Chipata United stranded in Solwezi
National Division One side Chipata United are stranded in Solwezi, North-Western Province, where they had travelled to play two matches against Lumwana Radiants and Quattro Kalumbila.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Eastern Province secretary Zondiwe Hara has since called on well-wishers to bail out the team.
Chipata played to a scoreless draw against Lumwana and had to stay in Solwezi for another match against Quattro Kalumbila which ended 1-all.
However, the team failed to travel back as they had accumulated bills at a lodge and did not have enough money for fuel.
As of Wednesday, the club needed K15,000 but only K1,180 had been raised from supporters who had sent money through mobile money platforms.
Hara said in an interview yesterday that the club has been facing financial challenges and wouldn’t have fulfilled away fixtures had it not been for coach Esau Zulu who has been using personal resources.
He urged the club executive committee to be innovative and lift the burden off Zulu.
