CHAN team captain Adrian Chama picks positives from West African tour
The Zambia national team concluded their tour of West Africa following their two friendly games engagement against Niger in Niamey and Benin at the Charles De Gaulle Stadium.
Speaking After the Match, Captain of the locally based side Adrian Chama described the friendly match against Benin as a Good Practice Match. Chama believes the match was an indication of good things ahead of Saturday’s CHAN final round qualifier against Eswatini.
Zambia conceded in the 87th minute against Niger and in the 90th minute to settle for a draw in both games and Chama believes this is due to lack of concentration from the team in the dying minutes.
“We have picked a lot of points going forward. It was a good practice match. We played well and that gives us a feeling that come this Saturday against Eswatini something good will happen,” he said.
“As a team, we are losing concentration. We conceded in the 87th minute against Niger and in the 90th minute against Benin. We need to work on those lapses we making in the last parts of the game,” he added.
Zambia beat Eswatini away by a lone Amity Shamende strike and hosts the TShilangu this Saturday in the return leg. Adrian Chama has called on the fans to turn out in numbers to support the Chipolopolo Boys.
” As a team, our target is to make our fourth appearance at the CHAN tournament in Cameroon. To the fans, they just need to turn out in huge numbers and support us. We have never lost a game at Heroes Stadium and that’s because the fans are always there to cheer us,” he said.
The overall winner between Zambia and Eswatini will qualify for the 2020 Cameroon CHAN tournament.
