CAN BUILDCON MAINTAIN CAF SLOTS?
Buildcon now sits in sixth place in the Super League after their 0-0 stalemate with ZANACO last weekend.
Now they can claim to have a chance of achieving something special by finishing in the top four and earning CAF Inter-Club qualification again doe the second time in their history.
Team Kopala will face no bigger test of their top-four credentials away to Nakambala next, who have entangled themselves in traps this season with only one win away, one draw at home and three losses already in their opening five games.
For Buildcon, It will be difficult to surpass the miracle breaking into the CAF slots that presented its self via the Transitional Season at the beginning of this year when the team was thought to be outsiders.
Old Traditional teams got shocked and finally, all eyes were on this team, but the latest results this season feels like the team has really built on that triumph. They may have been eliminated too early in the preliminary round but their introduction into the two year cross over league doesn’t look like a disaster. After five games, they count two wins, two draws and one loss.
The current side looks young and exciting, with a brand of football that has changed all of a sudden from what we saw in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
But then we all aware that the stand-in Coach is not comfortable taking the job permanently as he feels he is well suited as Technical Director. Another reality, Zambian Coaches should learn from
Under the TD, a team that is now comfortable playing attractive football bringing the ball out from the back, and pressing opponents relentlessly and has made them defensively strong and difficult to beat.
We saw how Toaster Nsabata sorely served ZANACO and that away victory to the stubborn Kabwe Warriors should be able to give an indication of what this team is able to do.
Lameck Silwaba was one of the bright sides
The play of Lameck Silwaba in the game against ZANACO was instrumental in that game and it will be crucial going forward.
It is no wonder that he has caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the Super League and who can doubt them with such excellent football we saw against ZANACO.
Nkana is believed to be looking at the boy as well as Power Dynamos in a bid for him to join the Kitwe outfits. Two other Lusaka based teams are looking at the boy.
Isaac Shamujopa -True light
Isaac is now impressing at the back as well and the confidence of that away goal in Kabwe should be ringing in his head and yes, he scored a wonder goal to open Buildcon’s account against Kabwe Warriors. He is another light that the team will look at.
The new Coach
With the search for a coach, it’s now the biggest decision this team will have to make to salvage something this season. It should be a coach who comes in to have that smooth transitional from the Technical Director. Several times, we have seen this fail in most of the clubs. Zambian Coaches just don’t seem to understand that part of the game.
The new Coach will now be looking to build on Buildcon’s notable start to the season which is crucial and for now, the executive will understand the 6th position on the log table but this will be a total failure at the end of the season.
I will be waiting for that key decision on who will be picked as the successor of Tenant Chembo. Its a key decision and that alone will tell us were the Executive wants this club to end at.
Is it a Zambian Coach or its another expatriate Coach coming to have a feel of the Zambian Super League!
