CAF CC: Zanaco sail through as Eagles capitulate and bow out

The CAF Confederation Cup playoff round second leg fixtures took center stage on Sunday, November 3rd and it was mixed fortunes for Zambian representatives.

Sensational Zanaco eased passed Equatoguinean side Cano Sports Academy to book a place in the group stage while Green Eagles capitulated late in the match to be bouted out.

The Bankers were at their ruthless best as they hosted Cano Sports in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup play off. Ziyo Tembo and Roger Kola scored a brace each with Enerst Mbewe chipping in with a goal to secure a 5-1 win.

Zanaco could have actually have won the match by a bigger margin had they been more clinical but they won’t mind as they progress to the group stage 8-2 on aggregate.

Green Eagles traveled to Morocco to face Hassania Agadir and needed to get a favorable result to qualify having drawn 1-1 at home. The Kawale boys broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, Tapson Kaseba heading home a beautiful cross from Amity Shamende to put Eagles in the lead.

However late goals from Ayoub Mallouki and Karim El Berkaoui turned the tie around and sent the hosts through to the group stage 3-2 on aggregate. Green Eagles crash out of another CAF inter-club competition yet again.
