CAF CC: Numba optimistic about reaching the group stage
Seven-time, Zambia Premier League champions, Sensational Zanaco were on Wednesday drew against Cano Sports Academy of Equatorial Guinea in the Caf confederations cup play-off round.
Cano Sports Academy, simply known as Cano Sport, is an Equatoguinean football club based in the city of Malabo. It was founded in early 2014. They are the current champions of the Liga Nacional de Fútbol.
The Bankers head coach Numba Mumamba believes his club has been handed a fair draw and only needs to get back to work and prepare well for the two-legged ties.
“It is a fair draw, all we need is to get down to work and plan for the challenge ahead of us because we are playing a team we know nothing about. We must come up with a strategy so that when we go there to try and get a victory.” Numba told the Zanaco FC website.
He also went on to state that his team’s chances of progressing to the group stage were realistic and has set the group stage as his primary target.
“Our chances are fifty-fifty, we just have to work hard so that we can achieve our primary objective of getting to the group stage. For now what is important is to get to the group stage, after we get there we shall give ourselves another target.” He added
Winner over both legs will automatically qualify for the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Bankers will be away in the first leg of the caf confederations cup play-offs to Cano Sports Academy in Malabo on the weekend October 26-28, 2019 with the second leg set for the weekend of November 2-4, 2019 in Lusaka.
